Free scrap tire collection for residents and businesses in Cuming County.  Cuming County, Cuming County Fair Board and the City of West Point have organized a free scrap tire collection on Tuesday, August 22nd from 8:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. (noon) at the Cuming County Fairgrounds in West Point, NE. A grant from the Nebraska Department of Environment and Energy will provide funds to dispose of 650 tons of tires.  The hauler route will start at Mill and Grove Street (Hwy 32), proceed north on Mill Street to Washington Street, and turn west to enter Cuming County fairgrounds.  Directional signs will be posted.

This collection is for Cuming County residents only.  There is no limit on the number of tires.  All sizes of car, truck, semi and tractor tires will be accepted.  No rims or tubes will be accepted so ALL tires must be off rim. Tires will NOT be accepted from businesses that charge tire disposal fees. Do not leave vehicles unattended in line, they WILL BE TOWED.  Limited unloading help will be available, so plan to unload your own. For grant purposes, haulers will be asked to provide contact information, number, or weight of tires and where the tires came from, Example: farm, home shop, business. Vehicles in line at noon will be allowed to dump.  No early or late drop-offs will be allowed. The pile will be patrolled by local law enforcement after the event.

Butler County Landfill, David City, NE, is contracted to haul the tires to the disposal site.  This may take several days depending on the number of tires collected.  For information regarding the event, please contact Bonnie Vogltance, Cuming County Clerk, 402-372-6002 or email
